The public, consumer groups and the marketplace continue to drive the demand for certified forest products originating from certified forests. This increased demand continues to motivate organizations to certify their forests and their Chain(s) of Custody. Chain of Custody is the tracking of forest products originating from a registered Defined Forest Area (DFA) through all phases of ownership, transportation and transformation from the DFA of origin to the end consumer. QMI – SAI Global conducts audits to:
  • SFI Chain of Custody
  • PEFC Annex 4 Chain of Custody for Forest Based Products
  • QMI – SAI Global Generic Chain of Custody
The SFI Chain of Custody standard is based on the PEFC Annex 4 Chain of Custody for Forest Based Products and allow organizations to pursue SFI and/or CSA forest product labeling. The QMI – SAI Global Generic Chain of Custody does not allow organizations to pursue product labeling but can be used to verify an organization's claim of percent certified content in a given product line.
